The World from Catherine's point of view

Exhausted!!

Today started out with us waking up in 04:30 AM in the morning. Then we got ready and brushed our teeth got dressed etc. etc.. We went outside and it was still dark. My sister's really loud so I told her to sshhh!! She thinks it was still at night.

We went through Napier and a few other little villages and finally, we arrived at Taupo. You're probably wondering what I'm on about. Since we don't have a map here, I will have to explain.

Today we went to Mt. Ruapehu to go skiing and play in the snow!! In the north Islad, it doesn't snow. Only on very tall moutains. Mt. Ruapheu is located very near Taupo which is about 2 hour drive from where I live, Hastings. But going to Ruapehu it'll take another 2 hours or more.

On the way there we stopped at Taupo, adn very surprisingly we met a fellow friend there!! She lives in Hastings too, she goes to our school. Her name's Saleshni. She's a very close friend of mine and she was there with her family. What a coincidence!! Then my mom asked them where they were going and the said Mt. Ruapehu!! But we left before them.

Then I couldn't remember much cus I felt really sick and I fell asleep. But when I woke up I could see heaps of mountains and they were white on top. Except for Mt. Ruapehu, it wasl almost white all over!! The sight was just amazing!! Unforunately, we didn't have any camera with us. So all we could do was stare at the scenery.

When we got there the wind was very, very strong. We had to fight against the wind and walk all the way up. My baby sister was in dad's hand but then he stepped on a slippery ice spot and he fell down. He tried to protect my sister so he hurt himself very badly. Then when we got up we saw a bus with passengers!! Turns out it was a free ride to go up!! And we walked all the way up for nothing!!

But our luck was jsut getting worse. My sister, Agnes, started coughing and she said it's hard for her to breathe. She took he inhailer but she wasn't getting better. So we went to the Medical Center while my dad walks down to get the other inhailer. In the Medical Centre, all that's there was a matress and some plates.

When my dad went up with the inhailer he said he fell down again and he hurt his head real badly. Later, we checked it and there was a red spot below his head but he said he was OK.

The we went down the trailer thingy to go skiing when my sister felt better and when we were almost down the trailer we saw Saleshni getting on one of them to go up. So we said hello to each other.

Then we rented some ski stuff and got a training. I was still really bad, I mean realy bad. The botts was SO heavy!! The heavest thing Ive worn!! It has hard to control it and I couldn't walk. So when it was over I took them off and ran to give the stuff back in socks...on snow. Then I got my shoes back on!!

After that we went to a cafe to have a snack and we went up the trailer and going up was even scarier than going down!! Then we walked to our car and drove to Napier to go to a restaurant.

When we arrived we had to wait a few minutes for the restaurant to open. After that we went in and we ate A LOT!! I ate more than I ususally do bust the food was DELICIOUS. They were Chinese food. If you go to Napier you can eat in this restaurant too. It's near 2 Supermarkets called 'Pak 'n' Save' and 'Countdown' and the restaurant is called 'Delgith Plus'.

Then we went home and I got ready for school tomorrow. I kinda miss school but I want the holiday to come back!! And I jsut got news that my cousin was comeing to NZ from Indonesia for a holiday in December. I told them to come before my birthday at the 2nd.

And right now, I'm listening to the wonderful, plain and mostly HORRIBLE voices of NZ Idol. This week the audition was in Auckland and they are just BAD!! But the judges was harsh too!! LoL

Anyway, hope you guys are having a better day than me!!

Yeah.. it was quiet early. I was still tired at that time. Was really sloppy and all... LoL

Back to School!

Today was the first day of school, on Term 3 that is. Today was kinda normal, like any other school days. Kinda the same so I'll only tell the highlights of it.

I went in class late, as usuall, and got all my nooks in my desk to get ready. Then we we took the roll and said our prayers and such. After that, we started R.E.(Religious Education, I go to a Catholic School) on Imaginative Prayer. And we went to our Heart Room to see Jesus.

Then came Maths time, we took our Bastic Fact test, like we do at the start of every term, today we did it on Addtion and I got 100%. Then me and 4 friends went to Maths Extention, it's where people who're good at maths got to learn more advanced stuff to be in the Matheletics. Matheletics is a contest.

So there, we got into groups, and our teacher put us in our levels, I was in the 2nd-last group as usuall. We got testr and we were suppose to work it out and get points. I worked out some in my own way, and my friend said 'What are you doing? Writing in Jibberish? Chinese? Seriously what is that?!' but then I told them the answer I got from the sums I got and we got that one right. Then I said to him 'This Jibberish stuff works!!'

In the end we got 5 out of 6 questions right. And we got the highest point. 35. The second group got 32 and third got 20. Very low. But then at the end I think they got sacked out of the Maths Extension for being naughty and screaming the answers out. And when we walked back someone in the naughty group told me that he actually cheated and he was listening to the guy in the next group, once he said to someone that e might've like me, yeah right...

Then at playtime I played skippping with my friends and my best friend told me that she got Class Captain. I sad congrats to her.

Then we went in the hall to discuss about this term and how it worked. THere weill be a new administrator block with a bigger office and staffroom. But a smaller extension room =(. The theme this temr is Simply the Best. WHich means we had to be the best that we can be in EVERYTHING, sports studies, being ME etc. etc. We also listenened to Tina Turner's old song Simply the Best. Now, it's tuck in my head.

When we got back to class there was not much time but we got on to work anyway. So then came lunchtime.

Before I ate my lunch my adn just when my best friend arrived to sit with me, my crush-friend* (not the one that walked back to class with me) said to me 'I bet you don't know, Catherine.' then I said 'What?' 'That I'm the Vice-Captain of Room 09' Yeah, I know and Jackie is the captain, she told me' and then he walked away. I'll tell you the history of him later.

Then after lunch I went to the Scince Fair Extention, my partner's Jackie my best friend. And we got our projects all sorted out and we measure a few people there including the teacher!! Our project is about 'Are babies more flexible than adults' but we need a catching name. Anyone have any ideas??

So after school we talked to one of the teachers and see if we can measure the 5 year olds and she said yes so we can!! Tomorrow yippe!! That's all for now.

*The history. Well, I don't really like him but I'm starting to. Only a bit. If you have been reading my diary long enough you will know that I don't have crushes. I change my mind all about him all the time.

Loss....

Today started as a normal day. Went to Assembly in the morning and did all our thingies of course. It went normal until...

Working time... Our principal came in. That wasnt weird because it's usuall for him to check the classes. But there I saw Mrs. Tairoa looking at her paryer book with him, the only time I ever saw that was last year when someone we knew died.

Then they told us to go in the hall because Mr. Mooney (principal) said he forgot something that he was suppose to say at Assembly. All the people from the senior school gathered and sat down then he started saying and explaining things about our camp. And who took care of it.

Then he just said 'One of them died, Mr Crestwell. I'm sure osme of you know him...' I was shoced!! He was old but I never thought he would die. So I would liek to dedicate this post to him. I would want to tell you guys about him. Him, he's a teacher in Biotechnology in our Technology. Which we learn in Hastings Intermidieatte School. And that's not my school, my school is called St. Joseph's.

MR. CRESTWELL

As I have said before, he's very old, I mean very, very old. He has worked in Hastings Intermideate School for more than 60 years. Probably more. Proff of that is, other than he told us, it was that Mrs. Holmes proved it too. When we were talking to her we said something about Tech and Mr. Crestwell. The she said 'Is he still working there'and she said he was HER teacher!!

And my best friend said that he was her dad's and her aunt's teacher too!! So I asked him 'Do you know Richard Wooster?'and he said yes. Very old isnt he??

Other than old he is very very fit. He is the gardener in that school. He takes care of the plants there and teaches people all about it. he usually have to wake up at 5 AM to start working everyday. He is very fit.

And he s good at maths too. He is very fast at adding. He use to be a maths teacher. But he was bad at spelling that's he's weak point.

Back to the fit thing, he is really fit. He said in his whold yr 0-8 he was never absent!! Even a single day. Then at high school he was absent for 3 days because he had a bad injury in his knee while playing rugby.

He tought us lots of things and for that I want to say thank you.

He is not the best teacher in the world but he always try to get the best of his students. He's really cool and wacky but he's grumpy too!!

People are not sure when he died. Last night or this morning but he died froma heart attack. I just want to ask you for prayers for him.

One thing's for sure, I will msis him.
