I thought everyone would be talking about the songs now
I guess the HSM 2 craziness died without HX

unfortunately for me, I'm not watching it anytime soon. My parents won't lett me subscribe to disney channel. But I don't like the Troy/Gabriella couple thing. Somehow, that freaks me out. And Sharpay's really amusing when she's the snobby girl.

I'm gonna download it! Since in Malaysia it comes out in september and in the US it comes out in august that's not fair! Personally, I like sharpay and ryan in the movie not troy and gabriella!! Icon_emotions16

before it came out in Mals. x]

Sharpay's role is a little obnoxious
and her voice is so high and sharp when she sings :P
but overall all the roles in HSM and HSM2 are okay with me :)

Soundtrack

Main article: High School Musical 2 (soundtrack)

The High School Musical 2 soundtrack was released August 14, 2007 in North America, and on August 13, 2007 in The U.K..

Plot Spoiler: The following information outlines how each song is significant to the movie's plot

"What Time Is It"
The opening number establishes the movie's setting as the start of summer vacation, laying out the characters' initial dreams of summer that eventually come to a crashing halt.

"Fabulous"
Pretentious lyrics establish Sharpay's character as a spoiled, materialistic egomaniac obsessed with having only the most "fabulous" things in life.

"Work This Out"
As Sharpay's plans to make each employee miserable begin to unfold, the Wildcats are worried their summer is bound to be ruined. Troy tries to convince his friends that the summer can be saved if they all work together.

"You Are The Music In Me"
Written by Kelsi, the song is literally titled "Troy and Gabriella's Song" on her sheet music. She also plans on using the song for the country club's talent competition, where the employees traditionally perform. However, Troy is reluctant to start singing again, intent on securing his future. The song nevertheless inspires him to join his friends in the talent competition.

"I Don't Dance"
After Sharpay leaves Ryan out of the talent show so she can perform with Troy instead, he is invited to the after-work employee baseball game by Gabriella. There, she encourages him to lead her and her friends in rehearsals for the talent show. However, Chad and his teammates brush off the idea of dancing. The song is performed on the baseball field as an back-and-forth exchange where Ryan likens dancing to baseball in an attempt to convince Chad and his teammates to perform in the talent competition.

"You Are The Music In Me (Sharpay Version)"
Sharpay has forced Kelsi to re-write the song with a more upbeat feel so that she and Troy can perform it together at the talent competition--which Troy had promised to do in an earlier scene. This is performed during a stage rehearsal, where Troy is noticeably uncomfortable singing with Sharpay.

"Gotta Go My Own Way"
At this point, Troy has completed his transformation into a different person. He has put self-interest and his own future aspirations above keeping his commitments to his friends. Unable to bear being with Troy, Gabriella decides to quit her job at the country club--breaking up with Troy in the process.

"Bet On It"
Troy realizes the errors of his ways and proclaims what he's learned. Troy understands that securing his future is not worth losing his identity. Troy is suddenly determined to save his relationship with his friends and with Gabriella by returning to who he once was.

"Everyday"
Written by Ryan and performed by the student cast at the talent show, the song is the most literal description of the movie's two morals: (1) live life one day at a time because each day is precious and (2) getting what you want isn't worth it if you lose yourself along the way. As the lyrics spell out specifically: "Once in a lifetime means there's no second chance, so I believe that you and me should grab it while we can.... They say that you should follow and chase down what you dream, but if you get lost and lose yourself, what does it really mean? No matter where we're going, it starts from where we are."

"All For One"
Performed after the end of the movie's plot, the song reasserts the themes of supporting each other and enjoying each day of summer, bringing the movie to a final conclusion.
