Post all your favorite Chinese Food here.
One of my favorite hawker dish is the "wonton mee" dry. Wonton mee can comes in dry as in the picture or soupy. If I order the dry wonton mee, it will come with a bowl of soup with pork dumplings.
I eat wonton mee maybe 2 times a week!
:::::DIM SUM::::
Who hasn't spent a lazy afternoon in their favorite Chinese restaurant, sipping tea and feasting on the innumerable assortment of delicacies that make up Chinese dim sum? Literally meaning "to touch your heart," dim sum consists of a variety of dumplings, steamed dishes and other goodies such as the famous egg custard tarts. They are similar to hors d'oeuvres, the hot and cold delicacies served at French restaurants.
Originally a Cantonese custom, dim sum is inextricably linked to the Chinese tradition of "yum cha" or drinking tea. Travelers journeying along the famous Silk Road needed a place to rest, so teahouses began springing up along the roadside. Rural farmers, exhausted after long hours working in the fields, would also head to the local teahouse for an afternoon of tea and relaxing conversation.
My favorite is 'Har Gow". It's contains yummy shrimps.
and
"Char Siew Pau" which has a BBQ pork minced filling.

I love siew mai as well but I usually order 2 baskets of Har Gow for me alone!
I think I know the chow mein you are talking about, although there are many types. Here are some of my favorite:
:::Lemon Chicken:::
I don't know why they always use orange slice for decoration but I like the sourish taste of lemon chicken. The crispy deep fried chicken is yummy.
:::Prawn Noodles:::
In Kuala Lumpur we called it "Heer Mee" the stock being made of prawns. In the North of Malaysia it's called "Hokkien Mee:. One of mom's favorite noodle dishes.
It's spicy when you add the chili paste to it but when mom cook that dish, she only uses prawns and separate the chili so we can decide how much spicy we want it. |

Maybe it's expensive in New Zealand but here in Malaysia and Singapore, it's cheap! Once we wanted to eat Chicken Rice in Frankfurt, Germany and after eating, dad told mom a plate was like US$20!!! LOL Over here in Malaysia, it's only about US$1.00 for a good portion!
I LOVEEEEEE Peking Duck!!!!
OMIGOD!!! We are like twins when it comes to Chinese food! The peking duck we had are rolled up in a thin sheets of pancake, not the buns. Then they were wrapped together with some shreds of spring onions and cucumber with some dark sauce. Eating with my family of 3, we usually order 2 ducks and they aren't enough to fill up our stomachs but we stop at 2 because we eat them as hors' dourves. I don't quite like the meat so much when they cook them into other dishes.
Yummmmyyyy Fried Wontons!!!
Each time mom makes that, she will kick dad and I out of the kitchen because the ready ones always go missing and the plate never seems to get filled up!!! They all go into our stomachs!!! :icon_033:
::::: GUOZA :::::
There are Chinese and Japanese Guoza made of minced pork and teeny weeny vege filling. This picture is taken on my second round of guoza! |

WOW So that's the price difference.
LoL. That's what happens when me or my mum make GUOZA. But we call it "Wotie" WO-TI-E. We are like twins ! I love them !! I learned how to make them !! Once I made them and there were only about 5 left when I finished cooking. But I ate some too.
Don't forget Dumplings !
And Fried Prawns !

And Foo Yung Hai.

Catherine, you know how to make guoza?! Wow!! We only know how to eat them! LOL
The dumplings look yummy and so are the prawns but they are not my favorite. The omelette looks good if there are no peas on it and no sauce. I don't like tofu.
Now I am hungry. |

LoL. Yep I know how to make them. Thanks to my aunt's recipe. I hate peas. I would avoid them. Usually when I eat Foo Yung Hai I would eat the peas first cus they taste Y U C K. And usually the sauce are too SOUR.
My nana always make Long Life Noodles on specials occasions. They are yummy ! _________________

Are you Chinese Filipina, Catherine?
Long Life Noodles are cooked during birthdays right? There are many ways and styles of cooking and I love it too!
::::SPARE RIBS with BBQ sauce::::
This is a Chinese style spare ribs. My mom doesn't usually eat pork (out of choice) but she loves this one. We usually order large for just the 3 of us. |
